“The sea defines us, connects us, separates us. Most of us experience only its edges, our available wilderness on a crowded island [...]", wrote Philip Hoare in his wonderful book The Sea Inside.
It was on the twelfth of November 2016 when I first visited Surigao City. On my journey going there, I imagined a lot of things but one purpose had me going to this place, and that's ADVENTURE!
From Butuan, I rode a bus going to Surigao City's bus terminal. I spent 4 loooong hours going to this place but the beauty of nature made this 4-hour trip memorable because the view outside my window during my trip is just magnificent! From the wide rivers of Agusan to the islands of Surigao. Now, talk about beauty! It was just an awesome experience traveling alone.
Touch-down! I've vividly seen it's beauty now! I am heading to Mount Bagarabon Resort to relax and will be waking up early on the next day for an exciting adventure that will about to happen and see on what Surigao City has to offer. But first, let me give you a picture on what Mount Bagarabon Resort really looks like.
Yes, that's me, tired but felt awesome at that moment because it's time to sleep. Had a long day and will also have a loooong day ahead. Beauty rest it is!
"Tik-ti-la-ok!", "Tik-ti-la-ok!", that funny alarm sound from my phone rang. It's time to witness Surigao's sunrise but first, let me check the view outside.
Voila! Believe it or not, outside this two-storey house that is made of wood is a beautiful scenery of Surigao's Pebble Beach. Yes, Mount Bagarabon is a part of Mabua's Pebble Beach. The unique rocks outside my room was carved and made naturally by volcanoes ages ago. All I can say is that these rocks are A-W-E-S-O-M-E. It's very difficult to believe that thousands (or even millions) of these rocks are naturally made. It is smooth, round and light. Nature really offers a lot of beautiful things to us. Really...
After enjoying the beautiful sunrise, I immediately go to the beach. (FINALLY! I'm gonna touch these rocks!) and see it myself if those rocks are really beautiful and smooth. Eager to touch one, I picked up one rock and therefore I conclude, that these rocks really rock! In-case you wondering on what it really looks like, here's a fragment from my gallery of these rocks.

Enough with this rocks, now let's move on to an awesome adventure! I then go back to my room to change my outfit and charge my camera because I know that this day will be filled with selfies and pictures of Surigao's wonders. Then outside, another discovery was made. Beside Mt. Bagarabon is a cliff that offers a beautiful view of Mabua Pebble Beach. Yes, walang patawad, I also climbed there. Not that high but this cliff is a little bit dangerous for kids because it is a little bit slippery. Here are some pictures from this cliff.
What I did next, I roamed around Surigao City and come across one Surigaonon. We had a "not-so" long conversation but he suggested to try the 380 steps of Surigao which can also be found near the resort. Excited to climb, I'm on my way to this spot where they call it the "380 steps". I'm not sure where it will lead me but I'm sure that up there, it will be beautiful.
Lo and behold! After that tiring moment of my life, I have finally seen the breath-taking view of Mabua Pebble Beach. I call it, "The Perfect Place to Rest". The lush green mountain plus the cool wind and silence is a perfect combination to rest and meditate.
Another hidden attraction of Mabua's Pebble Beach in Surigao City is the Handurawan Museum. The museum offers antique collections and preserved animals. The silence of this place is perfect because it allows you to think on what had happened on that particular thing before it was displayed.
After I have gone to several tourist attractions in Surigao City, it's time now to enjoy the cool and clear waters of Surigao! Beach time na mga ka-iJuanderers!
The picture speaks for itself! As you can see, the waters of Surigao City is so clear! I don't even need goggles to see what's underneath those rocks. The clarity of the sea is very inviting for travelers and no wonder I gave in.

And last but not the least, it's time to try foods at Mount Bagarabon Resort! At first, I was shocked about the prices when I saw their menu. Imagine, for just P120.00, they will serve you the best complete meal where other resorts and hotels cannot offer! From rice to variety of fruits to drinks with matching one delicious Mount Bagarabon Recipe! Now talk about satisfaction, and I am satisfied!
After eating and quenching my thirst, I then go to the main heart of the city. As expected, there's a lot of buildings, fastfood restaurants, schools and of course, Surigaonons! I have also been to their public market where they sell plenty of dried fish or bulad which Surigao is best known because of their geographical location which can be found beside the Pacific Ocean where there are a lot of fishes to catch. I have also come across to this beautiful and unique structure. It is a big orange shoes and it can be found at their plaza. Surigaonon's said that this unique structure also produces loud sound for it will notify Surigaonons that it's already 5am or 5pm. Kuyaw!

Sunset is visible now and it's time to pack and go home. I miss home already! All I can say to this once in a lifetime experience is that, it was a PERFECTION! The place, tourist spots, beach, foods and other things that had happened during my stay at Surigao City is beyond wonderful! It's nice to Juander and explore another place. Try to go to Surigao City iJuanderers and I am sure that your stay there will be worth it! And yes, it is a not-so expensive travel in case you are wondering about the budget. If you're on a tight budget, maybe 5k will do for a one night stay (excluding fares to Surigao). Saan ka pa hahanap ng ganyan ka murang travel? Tara na and Juander sa WOW Surigao!
